Who we are
The IWEC Business Excellence Awards are operated by Immigrant Women Entrepreneurs Canada. For questions about this notice or about any personal information we hold, write to awards@immigrantwomenentrepreneur.ca.
What we collect
From nominators: name, email, phone, relationship to the nominee and how you heard about the programme.
From nominees: name, contact details, city and province, country of origin, year of arrival in Canada, role in the business, business details including revenue band, and the written answers submitted in the nomination form.
From guests: name, organisation, contact details, and accessibility or dietary requirements.
From partners, judges and volunteers: name, role, organisation, contact details and any information supplied in the relevant form.
Automatically: standard website analytics, which do not identify you individually.
How we use it
To screen, judge and administer the awards, to contact nominees to confirm participation, to confirm claims made in nominations, to manage registration for the evening, to manage partnerships, judging and volunteering, and to send programme updates where you have asked for them.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share nominee information with sponsors.
Who sees what
Nomination content is seen by the IWEC screening team and by the judges assigned to that category. Nominator identity is removed before judging. Revenue bands and business numbers are confidential to the screening team and assigned judges, are never published, and are never shared with sponsors or partners.
Where a nomination is shortlisted, we publish only what you have consented to in the nomination form: business name, founder name, photograph and a summary of the entry.
The public vote
Where a nominee is included in the public vote, only her name, business name and category are shown. Votes are counted in aggregate, and voter contact details are used solely to prevent duplicate voting and are deleted once the vote closes.
How long we keep it
Nomination records and judging scores are retained for twelve months after the evening so that scoring can be audited and re entry supported. Financial records are retained as long as Canadian tax and accounting law requires. Marketing consents are retained until withdrawn.
Your rights
You may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw a consent you have given, at any time, by writing to the awards team. Withdrawing consent to be contacted about a nomination will withdraw the nomination itself, because we cannot judge an entry we cannot confirm.
Security
Information is held in access controlled systems, with access limited to the members of the awards team and judging panel who need it.
